Benidorm, Spain

Benidorm is a popular Mediterranean tourist destinations for many British and Europeans. Since the developments of the early 1960's, Benidorm has long since attracted mass tourists to the area along the Costa Blanca. The city is divided into two halves, called Poniente and Levante, each fronted by a beach of the same name. Between the two beaches lies a rocky promontory. The old city occupies this promontory and the area immediately inland, while most of the hotels occupy the more recently developed sections behind the two beaches.

Why is Benidorm such a popular tourist attraction?

Benidorm is packed with restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and nightclubs, many of them English and Irish. A Far cry from when the area was just a quite fishing village. However the one thing that attracts people more than anything is the CLIMATE.

What problems does Benidorm face in the next 10 years?
  • Loosing its 'larger lout image'
  • Landscaping its 'concrete jungle'
  • Attracting lower and middle class families once more
  • Re-inventing the wheel - offering something different
  • The Credit Crunch? Can businesses survive the economic downturn?
